Clifton Suspension Bridge WCs
Project type
Refurbishment, Conservation area
Date
2022
Location
Bristol
Contractor
Newgate Construction
Reconfiguration of existing WC building on the East side of the Clifton Suspension bridge. The building was constructed in the early 20th century in a civic style with allusions to the Arts and Crafts movement. The WCs were not listed but were within the Downs Conservation area and were set in a prominent setting adjacent to the suspension bridge.
CGA submitted a planning application, building control application and acted as Contract administrator for the project.
The project gave the building a new lease of life, creating 3 self contained WCs, alongside a small kitchenette/coffee hatch and classroom area.
